We've made an interesting discovery!  Every Saturday morning in August we opened the church to passers-by to come in, visit, say a prayer, have a chat, coffee and cake, take away a book.  The books were left over from various bazaars and we thought we'd see how many would find new homes.  Almost all, is the answer.  In fact, although our summer special is over, we've had more books brought in so we've kept the free stall open for visitors to St. Matthew's between our 8.15 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. services on Sundays.  Currently, our fiction stock ranges from Jane Austen and Julian Barnes to Emile Zola.  You'll find biographies and guidebooks, too.  Why not drop in?
