Over the past year the PCC has been working on a St. Matthew’s Vision Statement. After much discussion which included two prayer lunches, we have arrived at what we believe God is calling us to at St. Matthew’s at the present time.
Loving one another
We will seek to be:
Friendly (warm, approachable), Engaging (listening, interested), Open (receptive, inquisitive), Thankful (positive, grateful), Enthusiastic (passionate, keen)
Growing deeper in God’s Love
We will seek to grow spiritually through:
Christ centredness (loving Him more), Biblical rootedness (following what He says), Reverent worship (dignified, participatory, moving), Good music (choral and modern), Commitment (baptism, confirmation, Alpha, baptism of the Holy Spirit), Holy Communion, Encouragements to pray (together and alone)
Reaching out in Love
We will seek the wellbeing of Bayswater by:
Encouraging young people to use our building (schools, clubs), Opening our doors as much as possible (and offering a welcome), Helping those who are most vulnerable (mini-foodbank, community café, hosting 12 step groups), Partnering with Christian charities, Good publicity (posters, flyers, website), Bringing people together.
